Performing arts center |
| This is part of the master plan for a new 50 acre neighborhood in a previously industrial area, with river frontage facing the city center. This building will provide the key civic focus and contains a concert hall, lecture theater and a complete range of ancillary public spaces. The new neighborhood is planned to have 1,500 residential units and 3 million sq.ft. (277,000 m2) of commercial space. As the capital of California, Sacramento already hosts a number of State museums and this performing arts center is intended to complement these as part of a new river walk, which loops around the two main bridges and connects several of the existing cultural institutions. It is also intended to provide a heart for this new district and to become a catalyst for its redevelopment as a dense urban area. |
